Iona Lee Lincycomb, 96, died on March 27, 2023, in Clifton.
Services will be held at First Street Church of Christ in Lampasas on April 1 at 11 a.m., with a visitation an hour prior. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Iona was born on June 24, 1926, to Henry and Iona Friday in Fouke, Arkansas.
She graduated from Central Genoa High School in Genoa, Arkansas.
After high school, she went to Western Union School in Springfield, Missouri. From there, she was sent to Greenville, Texas, where she met Robert Lincycomb. They were married in May 1946 and then moved to Corpus Christi.
They lived in France with their oldest two children when Robert was stationed there during the early 1950s. Afterward, they moved with their four children to Lampasas in 1961.
Iona worked at Terry Lynn’s for a bit and also enjoyed working at her sister’s flower shop. She was a seamstress and enjoyed making outfits and stuffed animals.
After Robert’s death in 1989, Iona enjoyed going on trips with several of her sisters. Those were special memories for her.
Iona was preceded in death by her brothers Jack, J.E. and William Bryant; sisters Henrietta Vickers, Evelyn McDonald and Pauline Scoggins; and her children Cynthia Irene Lincycomb-Parker and Robert Scott Lincycomb.
Survivors are her sister, Ima Nell Sams; her children Gerald Dean Lincycomb (Alissa) and Sharon Denise Lincycomb-McCarter (James); as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
