JOYCESARAH MCCABE | DISPATCH RECORD On Sunday at 9:30 a.m., Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will celebrate its 140 years as a congregation, serving one another and loving the community of Lampasas. The church is located at 204 S. Broad St., where Nathan Herrod serves as pastor.
Central Christian Church began as a humble idea from A.P. Aten, an ordained Disciples of Christ minister, who started Aten College in Lampasas. Some records state that the first services were held in the Lampasas County Courthouse, with the congregation calling its first pastor, V.R. Stapp, and having a dedication service on March 25, 1883.
