Mr. Kelley

Wayland Glenn Kelley, 69, a longtime resident of Lake Victor, died on March 1, 2023, in Austin.

He was born on May 26, 1953 in Sweetwater, to Durwood Knight Kelley and Willow Jo (Hallabough) Kelley.

He was a member of the Lake Victor Baptist Church. He and Donna Amidon were married on Aug. 9, 1980, at Lake Victor Baptist Church.

He worked for Burnet County for over 30 years as a road foreman, caring for county roads and bridges. He then worked for Star Propane until retirement.

Wayland had been a member of the Masonic Lodge in Lake Victor for many years. As a Freemason, he helped and cared for many people. He also served on the Burnet County Child Welfare Board.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was known to be an excellent marksman and cook. Mr. Kelley loved to feed folks good food.

He had been president at the Lake Victor Community Center where he was instrumental in hosting the Lake Victor Homecoming for many years, and where he shared his barbecue. He was devoted to his family and loved to spend time with them.

Wayland is survived by his wife, Donna Kelley of Lake Victor; two daughters, Oleta Kelley of Lake Victor and Barbara Jowers of Burnet County; two brothers, Shawn Kelley and wife Avis, and Shane Kelley and wife Farrah, both of Lake Victor; one sister, Connie Roark and husband Ronnie of Floresville; grandchildren Gage, Aleea and Lorena, Deborah Soell and Raymond (Bub) Jowers; and greatgrandchildren Brandon Keefer, Jesse Jowers, Jayden, Noah and Zhavia Williams, and Haden and Camdon Soell; and by numerous other extended family members.

Graveside services and Masonic rites will be at 2 p.m. March 7 at Cauble Cemetery in Lake Victor, officiated by Doug Lindley. Heritage Funeral Home of Lampasas has charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made in Wayland’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children or to St. Jude Hospital.
