Hills and valleys: How it feels to let yourself go

I’m going to say it: I’ve let myself go.

I once was in a condition to ascend mountains. In fact, I’ve hiked several in my lifetime. Today, I feel like I’ve slid to the very bottom of one, and I stand staring up at the precipice, where I know I should be. That’s what it feels like to have let yourself go, and embracing that feeling is the most difficult thing I’ve experienced in my fitness journey.
