Mrs. Franklin

Wanda Routh Brewster Franklin died on June 16, 2022 at her home in Lampasas.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Blanket Cemetery June 25 at 10 a.m. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel of Lampasas has charge of arrangements.

The family will greet friends and relatives during a luncheon at the Blanket Lions Club following the services.

Wanda was born on Feb. 22, 1931 in Blanket to Audice Clive Brewster and Romie Lorraine Price Brewster. She grew up in Blanket.

She graduated in 1948 from Blanket High School, where she played basketball and was involved in numerous school-related activities.

After high school, she married William “Bill” W. Franklin in 1948 in Brownwood.

Prior to starting a family, Wanda was employed by Harlingen National Bank and Brownwood’s Bowie Theater. In 1952, the first of her three children arrived, and she became a homemaker.

She and Bill were married for 67 years until his death in 2015.

A lifelong member of the Church of Christ, in recent years Wanda had attended First Presbyterian Church of Lampasas.

Despite being married to an airline executive, she was not fond of traveling. She enjoyed playing bridge and dominoes, completing crossword puzzles, cooking and sewing, including making Halloween and other costumes for her children and grandchildren. Wanda also enjoyed coffee and was known in the family for making one cup and reheating it all day.

Wanda was preceded in death by her husband, William W. Franklin; son William W. Franklin Jr.; and brother-in-law James R. Boyd.

She is survived by her son Gary W. Franklin (Beth) of Lampasas; daughter Kristi Franklin Farmer (Scott) of Weatherford; brother Charles Brewster (Sylvia) of Boerne; sister Nell Boyd of Early; grandchildren Danny Farmer (Calli) of Carrollton, Sarah Farmer Burton (Chase) of Bedford, Matthew W. Franklin of Stephenville and Sarah Franklin of Lometa; great-grandchildren Eli Farmer, Audrey Farmer, Gracie Farmer and Will Burton; nieces Shelley Pemberton (Tommy), Lisa Schultze (Steve), Mitzi Maynard (Mark) and Marla Watson; nephews Brad Brewster (Rosanna) and Scott Blake (Sara); and numerous other relatives.
