Ferrell Sneed Koon, 86, died on June 1, 2022 at her home in Lampasas.
A funeral service was held June 6 at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
A private burial was planned at Coleman City Cemetery.
Ferrell was born on Jan. 16, 1936 in Crews, Texas to Milton Walker Young and Mildred Druzell (Madison) Young.
She grew up in Glen Cove, where her father owned and operated a country store.
She graduated from Talpa High School, where she was a twirler and played on the basketball team.
Ferrell returned to the workplace after her first husband, Noris Sneed, died in 1984.
She worked for the Lampasas Independent School District in the deaf education department.
She later served as director of First Baptist Church Preschool and finally as a Lampasas Middle School library aide.
Ferrell married Noris Sneed on Jan. 5, 1956. They were married for 28 years before his death.
In 2003, she married Roy Koon.
Ferrell was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as church pianist for many years.
She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children, crocheting, knitting and quilting. She was known for her hot rolls and butterscotch pie.
Ferrell also was preceded in death by her sister, Ladell King.
She is survived by her spouse, Roy Koon of Lampasas; daughters Janet Stephens of Midland and Diane Heath (Tom) of Meadow; sons Mark Sneed (Meg) and Jeff Sneed (Tricia), both of Lampasas; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
