Esperanza Pantoja Cagle died on April 28, 2022. She was born May 1, 1927
She was born May 1, 1927 in Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico to parents Jesus and Maria Pantoja and came to the United States in 1955 when she married Harland E. Cagle from Bend, Texas. She then shared 52 years with John Valles of Lampasas.
Esperanza was a Lampasas resident for 67 years. She was known for her beautiful voice and delicious cooking as the owner of the Guadalajara Mexican Café for 20 years where she served her taco pies and enchiladas.
She was also known for her kindness, never turning away a hungry person. She loved praising God and talking about the salvation of our Lord Jesus Christ and His mercy and grace.
Ms. Cagle was preceded in death by her husband Harland E. Cagle, and partner John Valles; son Fermin Rodriguez (Lucy Rodriguez); and daughter Marie Rodriguez-Robles (David Robles).
She leaves behind her children Charles E. Cagle (Vicki Whitis), Maggie Hoe (Paul Hoe), Laura Cagle-Hinojosa (Robert Hinojosa), Mary Jane Lowe (Marcello Ochoa), and Sonja Mannarino (Jason Mannarino); 16 grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren.
Visitation was held May 2.
A service to celebrate her life will be May 3 at 1 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home in Lampasas. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
