Museum recognizes 70th anniversary of Operation Longhorn

The Army maneuver was quite real. For some Lampasans, it was just too unreal to believe it could happen — and it was all a drill.

In the early 1950s, the threat of nuclear war and communism loomed over much of the Western Hemisphere. And for 18 days, it darkened one city in the Hill Country more than anywhere else.
