County judge urges residents to get COVID-19 vaccinations

With the increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19, as a result of the Delta variant, County Judge Randy Hoyer this week encouraged all Lampasas County residents to get vaccinated.

The judge added that he received a two-shot dose of the Moderna vaccine in April.

“With the number of confirmed cases rising in the county, we are once again concerned for the health and safety of our most vulnerable populations and the demand placed on the medical professionals, clinics and hospitals,” Hoyer said. “Unvaccinated people are most at risk of contracting COVID-19.”

The county judge added that “the Delta variant is more aggressive than other known variants and spreads most rapidly in communities with fewer fully vaccinated people.”

Everyone 12 or older is eligible for a free vaccination, Hoyer said.

“While Governor [Greg] Abbott’s most recent Executive Order, GA-38, prohibits mask requirements by local governmental entities, I would encourage unvaccinated individuals to wear a mask when in public places,” Hoyer added.
