Asbestos found in old jail; commissioners discuss abatement

A survey found asbestos inside the old Lampasas County Jail building on East Fourth Street.
The potential next steps for the structure were discussed at the Lampasas County Commissioners Court meeting Monday morning.
The county hired Austin-based Champion Environmental Consulting to canvas the vacant jail for lead paint and asbestos, as the building now is being considered for sale or demolition.
