Mrs. Roberson

Mary Ann Roberson, 82, of Lampasas died Jan. 19, 2021, peacefully at her home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 24 at Sneed Funeral Chapel.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 25 at Howard Cemetery near Devine. Those who attend services should wear face masks and practice social distancing.

Mary Ann was born and raised in Brownfield, and she graduated from Brownfield High School. She attended Stephens College and graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1959.

She married Johnny Roberson on Aug. 6, 1960 and began a lifelong partnership that took them from Blytheville Air Force Base in Arkansas to South Texas, North Texas and East Texas. They finally settled down in Lampasas in 1972.

In 1966, Mary Ann started a 29-year career as a Texas public school teacher, spending the final 22 years at Lampasas High School as an algebra teacher. She retired in 1995.

She spent her retirement years selling real estate, traveling and caring for her husband during his extended illness. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading and watching the birds at her home.

She was a member of the Lampasas County Retired Teachers Association, a founding member of Beta Mu sorority and a member of the Democratic Women's Association of Lampasas. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; sister, Betty Jean Sanford; and brother, John Holmes.

Survivors include her sons Trey Roberson of Lampasas, and Barry Roberson (Susie) of Brentwood, Tennessee; and grandchildren Jake Roberson, Rachel Roberson, Annie Roberson and Lilly Roberson.
