Julie Marie Davis Raley, 73, died on March 20, 2026.
Visitation with family will be held from 4-6 p.m. April 30 at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.
Funeral services will be held at Lampasas Methodist Church on May 1 at 10:30 a.m. Afterward, a military burial will take place at 2 p.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Julie grew up in Oyster Creek and graduated from Brazosport High School in Freeport. She received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Texas Woman’s University in Denton and then served in the United States Air Force.
Julie married William “Bill” Raley in 1993, and after Bill retired they moved to Lampasas.
Julie and Bill were both active in their church and community. Julie was known as a selfless person who was always ready to help. She volunteered with Meals On Wheels, the Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity.
She enjoyed being on a Houston Rodeo BBQ Cookoff team for decades, going on vacations for years with her ski group, hosting family reunions at her condos and camping with two groups.
Julie was loved by many people and by animals, too. She was like a magnet for animals. They would bypass everyone else and go straight to Julie. People, including strangers, would bring her animals they no longer could care for, and Julie took them in and loved them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Raley; her father, Robert Lee “RL” Davis; her mother, Ruby Henegar Davis; stepmother, Hester Bell Henegar Davis; her brother, Robert Lee “Bobby” Davis; and her sister, Mary Alice Swanson.
Julie is survived by her sisters Scarlett Mankowsky (Michael) of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, Jan Finley (Blaine) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, and Jennie Veselka (Jack, deceased) of Angleton, Texas; and by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
