Mr. Rogers

Julian Rudy Rogers, 79, of Lampasas died peacefully on Feb. 11, 2026. Born on Aug. 19, 1946 to John N. Rogers and Regina Mejia, Rudy was a lifelong resident of Lampasas.

He loved his hometown and built a life rooted in faith, family, service and community.

Rudy proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting on Nov. 18, 1965.

He attained the rank of Lance Corporal (E-3) and served as a rifleman.

During his service, he was deployed to the Republic of Vietnam, where he served his country with courage and dedication.

For his bravery and sacrifice, Rudy was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (two awards), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, and Good Conduct Medal (first award).

He was honorably released from active duty on Aug. 17, 1967, after having completed his tour of duty.

Following his military service, Rudy remained devoted to his faith and community. He was a faithful member of St.

Mary’s Catholic Church and was actively involved with the VFW and the American Legion. His service to his country continued through his support of fellow veterans and community organizations.

An avid outdoorsman, Rudy enjoyed hunting and fishing and cherished the quiet beauty of the Texas countryside. Many fond memories were made outdoors with family and friends, sharing stories, laughter and traditions that will carry on for generations.

He is survived by his son, James D. Rogers and wife Veronica of Goldthwaite; his daughter, J. Michelle Rogers of Lampasas; grandchildren Ethan Rogers, Derek Rogers and wife Samantha, Aidan Vega, and Trinity Mangan and husband Donnavan; and one greatgranddaughter, Emilee Mangan.

Rudy was preceded in death by his brothers Joe David Rogers, Thomas Rogers and John Rogers; and his sisters, Janie Monroe and Mary Wilson. A graveside service is set for Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas. Fulton Family Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
