Nell Lane of Lampasas died peacefully at her home on Feb. 5, 2026, at the age of 96.

She was born on Aug. 15, 1929, in Seagraves to Bernard and Lenora Nash.

Services honoring Nell will be held Feb. 11 at Lampasas Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Allan to officiate. The service will begin at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.

Nell will be laid to rest on Feb. 12 at Littlefield Memorial Park in Littlefield. Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. at Sudan Methodist Church, with a graveside service to follow, officiated by the Rev. Kerry Hurst.

After graduation from Seagraves High School in 1946, Nell enrolled in Texas Technological College in Lubbock. During that time on a blind date, she met her future husband, Frank Lane.

Shortly after their marriage on June 28, 1947, they moved to the family farm in Sudan, where they raised their children and farmed the land until relocating to Lampasas in 2012.

Nell was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church where she served in various capacities. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter and bridge player. Playing bridge brought her much joy, especially in her later years.

After Frank’s retirement, Nell and Frank traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico with their RV friends and made many wonderful memories.

Nell was strong-willed, competitive, loyal and loving. She will be missed by her family and friends.

Nell was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Frank Lane; her sister, Janet Jackson; and her grandson, Cody Waters.

Survivors are her children Sandra Nix and husband Mike of Belton, Linda Waters and husband Bruce of Many, Louisiana, and Mark Lane and wife Jacalyn of Lampasas; brother, Lee Nash and wife Vicki of Magnolia; sister, Willie Hall of Conroe; six grandchildren, Kaylenn (Ron) Henderson, Aaron Nix, Brett Waters, Lindsey Waters, Meredith Lane and Marshall Lane; two greatgrandchildren; and two nephews.

Memorials be made to the Lampasas Public Library, the Methodist Children’s Home or the charity of one’s choice.
