Allen Cole Belyeu was born on Aug. 22, 1994 in Floyd County to a troubled family. He was placed in CPS custody at the age of 4 and came to live with Wayne and Kathy Belyeu in Lometa in 1999 when he was 5.
He was legally adopted on Sept. 28, 2001, and went to school in Lometa. Because of his background, school was difficult for him. He then went to the Krause Children’s Facility in Houston until he was 17. After several failed efforts at completing programs to help him be self-sufficient, life didn’t get any easier for Allen, and he ended up addicted to drugs and living on the streets in Houston for about seven years.
With the help of his foster brother who is a retired Navy Seal, Allen successfully completed a rehabilitation program in Mississippi. He returned to Houston, got work and a place to live. He was in the process of changing jobs and working temporarily at a business in Houston. Within a week of becoming a permanent employee, he was struck and killed by a hit-andrun driver while he riding his bicycle home from work. He died on his 31st birthday, Aug. 22, 2025.
Allen’s family admires how hard he worked to turn his life around against so many obstacles.
Rosary will be recited at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Lometa at 6 p.m. Oct. 23.
