Bonita Alice Spivey, 81, died on July 26, 2025, at her residence in Lampasas.
Bonita was born on Sept. 13, 1943, in Smackover, Arkansas, to Harvey and Ivy Hardage Adams.
The family moved to Monahans, Texas, when she was young. She attended Monahans schools, where she graduated in 1962.
Shortly after, she met and married James Spivey on Aug. 30, 1962. In 1963, their son Jim Spivey was born. James and Bonita enjoyed 62 years of marriage.
Bonita’s primary focus was always being a homemaker. She was known as a wonderful cook, and she always had delicious meals prepared for James and whoever happened to show up at her home.
She also spent countless hours helping James on the farm and ranch. Bonita had a great love of horses. She and James went on trail rides all over Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and New Mexico.
After marrying, they lived in Midland for 3½ years. They then moved to Plano, where they remained for the next 57 years. They moved to Lampasas in 2022.
Bonita is survived by her husband, James Spivey; son, Jim and Laurie; granddaughter, Allie and Dakota Falcon; and greatgranddaughters Malone and Taos Falcon.
She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey Adams; mother, Ivy (Johnny) Carrol; and brother, Jerry Adams.
A memorial service will be held in late September at the family ranch in Lampasas. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
