Linda Hutchinson died peacefully on July 17, 2025 in her home, surrounded by family. A joyful reflection of life, not mourning, is how Linda wanted her family and friends to celebrate her departure from this world.
Linda was born Dec. 14, 1941, in Taylor to Morris and Modine Flaningan. She grew up in Central Texas with her sister Lana and her brothers Michael, Patrick and Aubrey.
Linda left her career at the Air Control Board in Austin in 1974 to fulfill her most treasured role as a homemaker and mother. She spent most of her time volunteering at school and church functions, cheering her children at their sporting events, and hauling them to their stock shows and rodeos.
As her children grew, she was blessed to experience many of those same events with her grandchildren, and even after suffering complicated medical issues in 2014, she still did her best to be there for the special moments of her loved ones.
Linda is survived by her husband Jim of 50 years; daughters Camey, Kelly and Tracy; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Although she was unable to attend in person the last several years, she was a member of Central Christian Church in Lampasas and spoke sweetly of her fellowship there. Prior to the medical complications that hindered her ability to sing, leading the praise and worship in church was one of her strongest passions.
The only thing more important to Linda than her family was her faith, and that is what gave her the courage to face her final days with grace. She reminded her loved ones often that she knew where she was going and couldn’t wait to be seated at the feet of her Savior Jesus with her mother, brother and all those awaiting her arrival.
Services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on July 26 at 2 p.m., with visitation an hour prior. Interment will follow at Nix Cemetery.
