The Kempner Water Supply Corp. issued a boil water notice to customers at 2:08 a.m. for a 6-inch main line leak that occurred early today along County Road 4450.
The KWSC says the boil water notice required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is only for customers affected by the main line break on CR 4450, not the entire system.
“If you live near CR 4450—particularly along CR 4450 itself or on the south side of Highway 190 from CR 4450—and experienced a loss of water pressure or a complete interruption of service, you are advised to boil your water before use,” The KWSC said in a press release. “If you did not experience any loss of pressure or service and do not live near the affected area, this notice does not apply to you.’
Affected KWSC members All Kempner Water Supply Co. customers must boil their water before consumption, including washing hands and face, brushing teeth, drinking, and any other reason to use water. Children, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems are more vulnerable to harmful bacteria that could be in the water.
KWSC members received an alert from the water supplier warning of a main line leak on CR 4450. The KWSC says crews have been working to isolate the leak and valve off lines as it awaits “emergency utility locates.”
