Mr. Izbicki

Hyman Izbicki of Lampasas lost his four-year battle with cancer on June 24, 2025.

He was born on May 14, 1951, in Barletta, Italy, to Abraham and Rosa Izbicki.

The family immigrated to the United States in 1956. They initially lived in Chicago and later settled in Sioux City, Iowa.

Hyman enlisted in the Army after high school and obtained his U.S. citizenship during his enlistment. He later worked for the Department of Defense as a systems analyst for 36 years, both in Panama in the former Canal Zone and at Fort Hood, Texas.

Upon retirement in 2017, he enjoyed volunteering for Meals on Wheels, AdventHealth Rollins Brook hospital, LAFTA and Vision Lampasas. He firmly believed in service to country, community and others, paying it forward, and loving and supporting his friends and family. He was proud of his family’s story of coming to America, prospering and living the American dream.

He loved adventures big or small, traveling, music, a great political debate and stimulating conversations. His happiest moments were when he was cooking and feeding his family and friends.

Hyman is survived by his wife, Tina Matney of Lampasas; his children, Lea Parrott of Bryan, Tammy Crespo of Long Beach, California, Aaron Izbicki of Long Beach, California, Miriam Wilson of Shelby, North Carolina, and Tzeitel Austin of Hudson, North Carolina; siblings Lina McMillin of Sioux City, Iowa, Golda Trantham of Fairview, North Carolina, and Jack Izbicki of Naples, Florida; and nine grandchildren, Max, Owen, Joshua, Joey, Aiden, Wyatt, Parker, Ivey and Ryan.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Donations in his memory may be made to Lampasas Association for the Arts or Lampasas Meals on Wheels.
