Erwin Heinrich Kuhlmann, 86, died on June 12, 2025. A devoted soldier, gardener and man of faith, he lived a life of purpose and service.
Born in Wallenbrück, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany on July 30, 1938, Erwin was the son of Friedrich and Klara Kuhlmann. He immigrated to the United States and served proudly in the U.S. Army for 28 years, retiring as Command Sergeant Major. His military career reflected his deep dedication and leadership.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 60 years, Gitta Brauser Kuhlmann. Together they shared a life of love and unwavering support.
After retiring, Erwin lived in Copperas Cove and Lampasas. He was a certified Texas Master Gardener and a member of the Association of the United States Army. He found joy in his garden and in serving the community.
He is survived by sons Marco, Thomas and Frank (Lisa); grandchildren Natasha (Davey), Emma and Eli; and great-grandchildren Carmilla and Davey Jr.
A memorial service with military honors will be held June 20 at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove. Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
