Lampasas County sheriff’s deputies found a Lampasas male deceased on April 4 at 3320 County Road 1020.
Sheriff David Parker described the incident as a domestic disturbance. He said it represented no threat to the public but was a family dispute that went bad.
“All of the family has been cooperative during the investigation,” Parker said. “We are still trying to put it all together to see exactly what happened.”
According to a news release the sheriff issued over the weekend, the LCSO received a call April 4 at 10:17 p.m. reporting a possibly intoxicated family member was threatening violence. A second call issued by the same individual at 10:20 p.m. warned of shots fired from the residence along CR 1020.
LCSO deputies arrived on the scene at 10.33 p.m. and found the deceased male, identified as Steven Andrew Kooy, with possible gunshot wounds.
“A Lampasas County Sheriff’s Office investigator was dispatched along with a Texas Ranger to initiate a thorough investigation,” the news release stated. “That investigation is ongoing.”
No charges have been filed at this time. The LCSO said all information will be forwarded to the district attorney for review after the completion of the investigation.
