Linda Kay (Malcik) Cox of Lampasas died on Feb. 18, 2025.
Kay was born on Dec. 5, 1948 in Temple, Texas to Wilson Malcik and Lillye Mae (Kneblik) Malcik.
She graduated from Temple High School in 1966.
Kay embarked on a lifelong career in the beauty business -- first as a model, then as a hairdresser and salon owner.
She married David Cox in 1973 and moved to Lampasas in 1982. They opened Kay’s Hair Salon, which they both operated for almost 30 years until closing in 2012.
Kay and David lived together on their cattle ranch north of Lampasas, where they retired and enjoyed many years with their friends and families.
Kay was predeceased by her husband David, parents, and brother Russel Malcik.
She is survived by her daughter Lea Sanders of Hillsboro; stepchildren Cheri Cox Doyle and husband Patrick Doyle, and John Cox of Austin; grandchildren Elizabeth Doyle of Poulsbo, Washington, and Cameron Steele of Hillsboro, Texas; and brother Roger Malcik of Temple.
A joint memorial service will be held for David and Kay Cox at a future date.
