Mrs. Bunnell

Tana S. Bunnell, 75, of Kempner, died on Jan. 29, 2025.

She was born in San Saba on Sept. 12, 1949 to parents Hugh and June Rainbolt.

Tana grew up in San Saba for most of her life and graduated from Killeen High School in 1967.

She went on to work for Texas Power and Light as an administrator for over 25 years. Later, Tana worked Civil Service on Fort Hood for a number of years.

After she retired, Tana enjoyed her life at home with her husband where they took care of retired horses.

Tana met the love of her life, Charles T. Bunnell, in 1967 and they were married shortly after. They shared 57 years together. In 1969, they welcomed their daughter Malea into the world.

For many years, Tana was involved in the world of rodeo. She enjoyed barrel racing and later joined the Killeen Rodeo Association where she served as a timekeeper. Her Gold Member PRCA card allowed her to travel to numerous rodeos. Tana and Charles supported the 4-H organizations in Lampasas and Bell County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Bunnell; daughter, Tana Malea Hartley; her brother Phillip Rainbolt; and parents Hugh and June Rainbolt.

She is survived by granddaughters Charlie Bunnell of Gatesville, Frankie Holt and husband Jason along with their son Aaron of Gatesville, and grandson Bandy Hartley of Gatesville. She is also survived by her brother, Richard Rainbolt of Kempner, and sister, JoAnn Cantrell of Palestine.

Visitation was held at Crawford Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove on Feb. 1. A graveside service followed at China Creek Cemetery in San Saba County.
