Brenda K Parmer Martin, 72, of Topsey, died at home on Dec. 22, 2024, after fighting an almost six-month recovery from injuries sustained from a horse-related accident while at home.
Brenda was born in San Saba County on Jan. 8, 1952, to Filmore and Irene Odell Ivy Parmer.
Brenda is survived by her husband, Richard Martin of Topsey; father-in-law and mother-in-law, George and Alice Martin; brother Richard Parmer and wife Mary Lou; children Casey Jorgensen, Blake Myers, Angela Roberts, Charlie Myers, Justin Martin and wife Stacy, and Travis Martin and wife Andrea; nephews Brad and Cody Parmer and families; niece Kelly Parmer and family; sisterin- law Betty Lockwood and husband Danny; numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren and other extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Boyd Wayne Parmer.
Brenda was a graduate of Lampasas High School Class of 1970, then went on to attend Tarleton State University.
She sold real estate before making a career working for TDC in Gatesville, retiring in the early 2020s. After retirement, when not traveling, she volunteered her time at Topsey Exotic Ranch.
She exemplified fearlessness in everything she did -- from feeding lions to hunting wild game to riding rides on top of the stratosphere in Las Vegas, though she was terrified of chickens. She loved Mexican food and NFL football. Her favorites were Joe Montana and Aaron Rodgers. She also was a music lover, especially The Bee Gees, The Eagles, The Beach Boys, Neil Diamond, Elton John and King George.
From early childhood, Brenda was an avid horse rider, barrel racer, trail rider and more. She gained many friends while traveling to trail rides alongside her husband Richard of 18 years. Brenda was known by her friends and family as someone who never met a stranger. She liked to “sit and visit” while on trips riding horses among friends or just at home. She attended regular lunches with the “Hen Club,” a group of fellow high school classmates.
Brenda had a strong love for the Lord and exhibited great resilience up until her death.
A celebration of her life will be held Jan. 16, 2025, at 9 a.m. at the Lometa Church of Christ and on Jan. 18, 2025, at noon at Parrie Haynes Equestrian Center in Killeen.
