Edward Finnell Jr., 80, died on Nov. 26, 2024, at Methodist Hospital in Houston.
Funeral services will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Dec. 7 at 11 a.m., with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lampasas.
Ed was born on Feb. 1, 1944, in Lampasas to Edward and Susie (Hamilton) Finnell.
He grew up in Lampasas and graduated from Lampasas High School in 1962.
He joined the Air Force in 1963 and served for three years. He served in the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. Ed was discharged in 1966, achieving the rank of Airman A2C.
He then attended the University of Houston, and he earned a real estate brokers license.
He worked at Sterling McCall Toyota as a finance manager for many years and retired as a special finance manager at Mike Calvert Toyota. He also received several Salesman of the Year awards as a finance manager at Sterling McCall Toyota.
Ed married Mary in 1992 in Houston. They were married for 32 years.
He enjoyed sports, bowling, cooking and fine dining.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; siblings Janice Burton and Barbara Butler; and his son, Edward Dewayne Finnell.
He is survived by his spouse, Mary, of Houston; his children Veda Lewis of Houston, Kimberly Defreitas (Gerald) of Harker Heights, Shanna Finnell of Killeen, Kelvin Finnell of Houston, and Delvin Finnell (Dana) of Killeen; grandchildren Ashley Blackburn, Keyon Lewis, Katerra (Reginald II) Guidry, Chavon (Devron) Covington-Haddix, Jamel Defreitas, Jenika (Anthony) Andrew, Deandre Finnell, Loghan Finnell and Lauren Finnell; great-grandchildren Jonathan Kirkendoll, Jevon Kirkendoll, Jaiden Kirkendoll, Penelope Andrew and Reginald Guidry III; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
