Mrs. Drinkard

Shanna Shinelle Adams Drinkard of McLouth, Kansas, died suddenly on July 13, 2024, at the age of 41.

She was born May 12, 1983, in Abilene, Texas. She spent her early years in Texas before her family relocated to the Kansas City area.

Shanna loved to compete and was active in many sports including softball, basketball, volleyball and cheerleading. She had a gift for music, with a beautiful voice. She also was accomplished at playing the guitar, viola and clarinet.

Her PeePaw Slagle taught her to fish at the age of 10, and she still loved a good fishing expedition well into her adulthood. Shanna could always be seen with one of her fur babies. She helped with the family Shelties and when she became an adult, she adopted “Bob Barker,” her loyal companion and dog friend.

Shanna was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a proud member of the 101st Airborne. During her military service, she received the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal and the National Defense Medal. Shanna was a paramedic with a heart for serving and caring for others.

Shanna had a contagious sense of humor, and her smile would light up a room. She accepted Jesus and was baptized at the age of 11. She shared the love of Jesus in her actions up until her death.

Shanna is survived by her husband, Jimmy Drinkard; her mother and stepfather, Marcia and Tom Dozier of Olathe, Kansas; father and stepmother, John and Carla Adams of Texas; her stepson, Kalob Drinkard; siblings Jonathan Adams (Astrid), Cristian Dozier (Michelle), Michael Dozier (Emily), Andy Dozier and Yensi Dozier; her mother and father-inlaw, James and Lannette Drinkard; brother-inlaw, Scott Drinkard; maternal grandmother, Nancy Slagle; paternal grandmother; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Shanna was preceded in death by her stepmother, Bonnie Louise Pittman; her maternal grandfather, Pete Slagle; and her paternal grandfather, Gary Adams.

Shanna’s interment took place at Leavenworth National Cemetery with military honors on July 29, 2024, followed by a celebration of her life on Aug. 1, 2024, with close friends and family.
