After over a month of a boil water notice, Kempner Water Supply Corp. Members can now breathe a sigh of relief. The water supplier announced in an alert to customers at 8:41 a.m. this morning the boil water notice had been rescinded.
On Aug. 13, the KWSC was forced to issue a boil water notice after the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality discovered low chlorine residuals in KWSC's supply.
Since Aug. 26, the KWSC has flushed its lines to rid the system of any organic or inorganic material as it switched its disinfectant in the system from chloramines to free chlorine.
"The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of September 17, 2024," the KWSC's alert to customers said.
