Douglas Dee “Bugsy” Cude Jr., 75, of Lampasas died on Aug. 22, 2024.
He was born to Douglas Dee Cude Sr. and Ina Mae Brazeale on Jan. 4, 1949, in Lampasas.
He married Brenda (Trowbridge) on May 6, 1983.
Bugsy had a strong work ethic and began working with his grandfather, “Shorty,” as an apprentice electrician long before he could legally drive. He eventually became a Master Electrician and enjoyed a fulfilling career, retiring from Crow Electric at the age of 62.
Bugsy loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting with his friends. He hosted more barbecues and fish fries than one can count and was almost unbeatable at a game of washers. He loved ice-cold beer and spontaneous poker games, and while he didn’t have a favorite football team, he loved to watch the Cowboys lose. Bugsy’s only soft spot was for his grandchildren to whom he was affectionately known as “Papaw.” He also dearly loved his many canine companions throughout the years who were always by his side.
Bugsy was preceded in death by his parents and son, Joseph Cude.
Bugsy is survived by his wife, Brenda Cude; his children, Brian Cude (Beth), Tracy Stephens, and Sarah Hayden; and grandchildren Brandy Cude, Seth Cude, Tate Stephens, Gus Graham, Austin Williams (Heather), Riley Roche and Trip Hayden.
A come-and-go celebration of his life will be held Aug. 31 from 2–4 p.m. at 2701 County Road 1045 in Lampasas.
