KWSC issues system wide boil water notice

At 11:29 a.m. this morning, the Kempner Water Supply Corporation issued a boil water notice to all members. The move comes after a boil water notice was issued for some customers on Tuesday.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the KWSC to issue the notice after failing to maintain chlorine residuals.

The KWSC says, "To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes."

For those opting not to boil water, the KWSC recommends purchasing bottled water or obtaining water from some other suitable source for drinking water or additional human consumption purposes

The KWSC will notify members when the notice is rescinded. For any comments or questions, contact the KWSC at (512)932-3701 or via email at info@kempnerwsc.com.
