Stormy week ahead

National Weather Service officials issue hazardous weather outlook Sunday morning

Stormy weather is anticipated for Lampasas County today and tonight, and chances of rain and storms will continue through the week.
The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook at 4:15 a.m. Sunday morning for Lampasas, Hamilton, Bell, Coryell and surrounding counties, citing chances of thunderstorms today and tonight.
“Gusty winds and lightning will be the main threats,” meteorologists said.
Chances of storms will sit at 50 percent after 10 a.m. today through the night. Rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are possible, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Thunderstorm chances will persist through the week to next Saturday, the outlook read. Monday and Tuesday will see a 70 percent chance of storms, with that likelihood dropping to 60 percent on Wednesday and Thursday.
“Heavy rainfall will be the primary concern, the cumulative effect of which could result in flooding, particularly across Central Texas,” NWS officials said.
