Services will be held at Grace Fellowship Church in Lampasas on June 22 at 11 a.m. for Charles “Chuck” Williamson, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.
Interment with military honors will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel has charge of arrangements.
Williamson was a member of the Lampasas City Council. He died June 18, 2024, at AdventHealth Rollins Brook hospital in Lampasas at the age of 75.
Williamson was born on March 26, 1949, in Fort Worth to CJ and Nell Rush Williamson.
He grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Lee High School in 1967.
After high school, he worked in emergency medical services for several years and joined the U.S. Army on Aug. 5, 1969, serving his country for 23 years.
Williamson served in Vietnam and Desert Storm, and he was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and numerous other awards. He officially retired in 1992, achieving the rank of CW4.
He then began a 22-year career with the state of Texas as a social worker until he retired in 2014.
Williamson was dedicated to his community of Lampasas. He served on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board from 1992-2014, the Capital Improvements Project board from 2007-2024, and was a current City Council member, having first been elected in 2014. He had been named mayor pro tem several times during his tenure as a councilman.
Williamson married Deb on May 29, 1971, in Euless. They were married for 53 years.
He enjoyed bird watching, reading, shooting firearms at the range and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his spouse, Deb, of Lampasas; a daughter, Jennifer Beasley (Rudy Rodriguez); a son, Charles (Julie) Williamson of Lubbock; grandchildren Shelby (Brandon) Burton of Burnet, and Chad Williamson and Allie Williamson of Lubbock; a great-grandchild, Emma Burton; and numerous other relatives.
Memorial donations may be made to Tunnel to Towers or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
