Brenda Sue (Kennedy) Taylor was born May 14, 1946, in Clarksville, Tennessee to Earl Kennedy and Gladys (Selph) Kennedy.
She died May 7, 2024, at AdventHealth Central Texas in Killeen.
A graveside service at Kempner Cemetery was held May 13 at 1 p.m. Girdner Funeral Home of Abilene had charge of arrangements.
Brenda married Owen Lonas Taylor on Dec. 21, 1968. They were married for 33 years before his death in January 2002.
Brenda worked as a waitress for many years in Killeen, and as a correctional officer in Bartlett.
She had quite the green thumb and rescued many discarded plants. Working with her plants brought her joy, especially after her stroke in January 2013.
Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Taylor; twin sister, Linda Lou Brown; brothers Tony Kennedy, Bill Kennedy and Alvin Devasier; and her parents.
She is survived by sons Skip Taylor and wife Vicki of Lampasas, Marty Taylor of Kempner, and John Taylor and wife Tracy of Lampasas; daughter, Lolita “Sissy” Cortinaz and wife Esther of Abilene, sisters Patsy Butcher, Gail Outland and Shelia Moss, and brother Jackie Kennedy, all in Clarksville, Tennessee; 11 grandchildren and 20 greatgrandchildren.
