Lupe C. “Papaw” Dimas, 96, of Lampasas, died Oct. 28, 2023 at his home in Lampasas.
Rosary will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Nov. 2 at 6 p.m., with visitation to follow.
The Funeral Mass will be Nov. 3 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 2 p.m. with interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Lupe was a well-known member of the Lampasas community and could be found along the fence line at Lampasas Badger football games. He and his family settled in Lampasas when he was 9 years old, and he has called it home since.
He met his wife, Sally, in Lampasas, and raised his family here, many of whom still called Lampasas home.
Lupe served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and then retired with the Army National Guard.
Mr. Dimas loved garage sales, was an avid runner and participated in many of the Toughest 10K in Texas races during Spring Ho. He was devoted to his faith and was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Above all, he was devoted to God, his family and his community.
Most of his career was spent as a mechanic, but he also was known to sheer sheep and brought most of his family members along.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ed Dimas; a brother, Julian Dimas; and a great-grandchild, Coben.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Sally Dimas; his son, Frankie Dimas and wife Dana; daughters Cecelia Jimenez and husband Monroe, Patty Rios and husband Rey, and Diane Hibbert; daughterin-law, Teresa Dimas; grandchildren Julie, Jana, Kurt, Edika, Mystica, Patch, Spinner, Kristen, Bailey, Kamryn, Graham and Joe Rey; great-grandchildren Cody, Johnnie, Cade, Caleb, Chloe, Phillip, Ashley, Bianca, Tagg, Layne, Krew, Will, Finnegan, Rylee, Elijah, Marley and Brady; and one great-greatgrandchild, Casen.
