Jean Carol Crisp, 80, of Lampasas, died on Oct. 25, 2023.
Visitation will be held at Sneed-Carnley Funeral Chapel in Lampasas on Oct. 30 from 5-7 p.m.
Graveside services will be Oct. 31 at 11 a.m. at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Jean was born on Oct. 13, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland to Carlton and Luella (Whitesell) Fore.
She was a wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother.
She loved her goats, her potbelly pigs, Pretty Boy the bird and Sam the cat, but most of all she loved her Boston terrier dogs. And Jean absolutely loved Elvis Presley.
On Dec. 17, 1986, she was named an honorary member of the Audie Murphy Club by Command Sgt. Major George L. Horvooth. Jean was the first woman ever to receive this honor. She also was awarded the Superior Civilian Service Award by Major Gen. Robert E. Armbruster.
Jean retired after 28 years of service as the awards administrator personnel directorate, serving from 1975-2003.
She married Bert Crisp Sr. on April 16, 1962, and they were married 56 years before his death on Oct. 26, 2017.
Jean also was preceded in death by her sisters Betty O’Donnell and Louise Smith, and by a son, Bert Crisp Jr.
Survivors include her sons David Crisp and wife Melanie, and Michael Crisp and wife Kimberly; grandchildren Stephanie Vantine and husband Patrick, Megan Reyna and husband Ernest, Kandi Harris and husband Josh, Kevin Harris and wife Heather, Kristopher Crisp and wife Emma, Michael Crisp and wife Teffany, Britain Paulk and husband Dallas, Jillian Holt and husband Jeremy, Sara Crisp, and Trevor Crisp; 17 greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat- grandchild and another on the way.
