Mr. Mattingly

Mark Mattingly died on May 20, 2023 at the age of 66.

He was born on June 25, 1956 to Beverly Lewis “Bud” and Eva Jean Mattingly.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, Bud Mattingly.

Mark Mattingly is survived by his wife, Holly Mattingly; daughters Storhm (Billy) Remillard and Shade Golden; grandchildren Justin Remillard, Kylee Golden and Kollins Golden; mother, Eva Jean Mattingly; siblings Edmond (Raellen) Mattingly and Isaac Mattingly; halfsiblings Jay Quarles, Stacey (Lisa) Quarles, Michael (Kelly) Quarles, Carolee Quarles and Elizabeth (Rick) Hilton; along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mark graduated from Dilley High School in 1975, and went on to play football in college for the University of Houston and Southwest Texas State University.

Anyone who knew Mark knew he loved hunting, fishing and cracking jokes any chance he had.

A longtime resident of Lampasas County, Mark retired from a longtime career with Beynon Surfaces in 2012 -- a career in which he traveled the continental U.S. and gained many substantial friendships along the way with individuals from all over the country.

Mark was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dilley, Texas, where his father Bud Mattingly had been the minister for 20plus years. While living in Oakalla, Mark and his family were also members of the United Methodist Church in Watson, outside of Lampasas.

Memorial services will be held June 10, 2023 at 10 a.m. at Gosch Field, the Dilley football field in Dilley.
