Traffic was shut down for several hours Thursday on FM 580 East after a garbage truck overturned.
Lampasas Volunteer Assistant Fire Chief Tim Weinrick said dispatch officers received a report of the wreck at the intersection of FM 580E and FM 1715 at about 2:30 p.m.
“It was a garbage truck, and the driver said the brakes failed on FM 1715 going toward FM 580, and he couldn’t stop,” Weinrick said.
