An hour following the close of the polls, Trump had taken the lead among Texas voters.
According to the Texas Secretary of State unofficial totals, as of 8:15 p.m. and with 120 of 254 counties reporting, Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and J.D. Vance had taken a narrow lead in Texas, with 2,551,968 or 58.2%. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz of the Democratic Party followed with 1,778,970 or 40.6%.
In the race for U.S. Senator, Republican Ted Cruz had the lead with 2,439,239 or 56% over Democratic Colin Alred, who had garnered 1,837,673 votes as of 8:15 p.m.
County specific totals were unavailable at 8:15 p.m., but voter totals were reported as follows:
Of the 16,913 registered voters in Lampasas County, 8,779 turned up at the polls Tuesday to vote, representing 52%. With the 410 mail-in votes counted, 54.3% of those registered have issued a vote in the election.
