After a brief rainfall over the weekend for the Lampasas County area, the National Weather Service is predicting more stormy weather today.
In a hazardous weather outlook issued at 2:12 a.m. Monday, meteorologists are predicting storm activity for Lampasas, Coryell, Bell and surrounding counties.
“Isolated thunderstorms will be possible across Central Texas on Monday. Gusty winds and lightning will be the primary hazards,” NWS officials said.
Monday will see a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms before 1 p.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m. Skies will be mostly sunny, with a high near 96 degrees. North-northeast winds will reach 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. The chance of precipitation is 20%.
Later in the week, dry weather and high temperatures will return.
“Dry and occasionally breezy conditions will maintain an elevated fire threat across North and Central Texas through the week, primarily along and west of the I-35 corridor,” officials said.
Highs will climb gradually this week, with 95 degrees expected Tuesday, 96 on Wednesday, 97 on Thursday, 98 degrees on Friday and 99 on Saturday.
High temperatures this summer in the Waco area registered fifth on its history of greatest consecutive triple-digit days and ninth in its history of triple-digit days within a single month.
So far in 2023, Waco has reached 54 triple-digit days, which places this year as its seventh in number of triple-digit days.
