The Lampasas Police Department confirmed Friday that a skunk found within the city limits has tested positive for rabies.
On Thursday, Interim Police Chief Jody Cummings said in a news release the animal was found in the 300 block of Brook Street after authorities received a report of two dogs killing a skunk.
The dead skunk was sent to a laboratory where it tested positive for rabies.
