Gone but not forgotten: Old county jail demolished

Within 10 months, the former county jail on East Fourth Street went from being a downtown landmark to a non-existent structure. The jail was built in 1972 to replace an outdated structure at the same site that dated to 1883 and had been condemned by the state health department.
