City of Lampasas issues water notice

The City of Lampasas has issued a water notice to all customers. The announcement was made via the city's website earlier today.

The notice was issued due to discoloration, poor taste, and odor the City of Lampasas Public Water System is experiencing.

Earlier today, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the Kempner Water Supply Corporation to issue a boil water notice to all customers due to poor chlorine residuals. Water to Lampasas flows through KWSC lines, however, the water provider is Central Texas Water Supply.

The CTWS is maintaining compliance with the TCEQ. CTWS General Manager Lee Kelley says the issue is occurring where CTWS water blends with water produced by the KWSC.

The city's news release says, "The City of Lampasas Public Water System purchases all of its treated water and our supplier is currently experiencing technical difficulties. Public Water System staff boost the disinfectant residual within the water upon the entry into Lampasas. Staff is continuously collecting water samples to ensure compliance with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality."
