FUNDRAISER FOR HURRICANE RELIEF

First United Methodist Men will hold a fundraiser Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the church’s Wesley Fellowship Hall, 2 Alexander Lane in Lampasas.

Proceeds will be used for hurricane relief. The cost is $7 per meal, which will include a pulled pork sandwich, chips and a drink.

HOLIDAY CLOSURES

County offices, as well as Kempner and Lometa city offices, will be closed Monday for Columbus Day. The Lampasas County Commissioners Court’s regular meetings usually are on Mondays, but the court will meet Tuesday because of the holiday.

City of Lampasas offices will be open Monday.

WATERSHED PARTNERSHIP

The Lampasas River Watershed Partnership will meet Thursday at 6 p.m. at the county Farm Bureau building, 1793 North U.S. Highway 281.

BURN BAN

A countywide burn ban, which prohibits outdoor fires in areas outside incorporated city limits, is in effect. A violation is a Class C misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.

There are certain exceptions, including an exemption that allows people to burn trash in a barrel with a screen on top and an exemption for brush piles under specific conditions. For more details, contact the county judge’s office at 512-556-8271.
