Three vehicles collide near post office

A three-vehicle accident Saturday evening sent a male juvenile to Rollins Brook Community Hospital.

The accident occurred in the 1700 block of East Fourth Street. Officer Garrett Bradley of the Lampasas Police Department arrived at the scene about 6:15 p.m.

Bradley gave this account.

A 2006 Lincoln Town Car was westbound but had stopped, as the driver – Amanda Linville of Lampasas – was attempting to turn left into the post office. A female juvenile was a right-front passenger, and a female juvenile was a left-rear passenger.

A 2008 Hyundai four-door, also westbound, was behind the Lincoln. Sandy Lancaster of Lampasas was the driver of the Hyundai, and a male juvenile was a right-rear passenger.

The third westbound vehicle – a 2015 Nissan Sentra driven by Andrea Salazar of Kempner – struck the Hyundai, which in turn collided with the Lincoln Town Car. Ms. Salazar was the sole occupant of the Sentra.

The juvenile in the Hyundai was taken by Acadian Ambulance Service to Rollins Brook.

All the people in the vehicles were wearing seat belts.

A driver’s side air bag deployed in the Nissan.

The Lincoln sustained light damage to its rear portion, and the vehicle was driven from the scene. The other two vehicles had to be towed.

The Hyundai sustained light damage to the front portion of the vehicle and moderate to heavy damage in its rear portion.

The Sentra sustained moderate to heavy damage to its front end.

Sgt. Fidel Morua of the Lampasas Police Department assisted Bradley in an investigation of the accident.
