Early-morning crash at Kline Whitis Elementary

DEREK MOY | DISPATCH RECORD DEREK MOY | DISPATCH RECORD The Kline Whitis Elementary playground fence along Samac Lane sustained damage in a crash Thursday about 7:15 a.m. School Resource Officer Will Sneed reported that Lampasas resident Andy Skiles fell asleep while driving a four-door car (pictured at left). The driver, who had been dropping off his daughters at the school, veered off the roadway and crashed through about a 10-foot section of fence. No students were nearby, Sneed said, and there were no injuries. All the occupants of the car were wearing seat belts, Sneed said. The vehicle was towed at Skiles’ request, the police officer said.
