Lady Badgers crush Llano
Lampasas (2-1 in district, 15-7-1 overall) had 18 hits in the game. Blakeli Brookreson contributed three hits, plus a walk.
Kyndal Moyer also recorded three hits. Sloane Johnson had two hits and three runs batted in.
Kamri Corbin and Kloe Corbin each batted in two runs, and Kamri had two hits.
Megan Sittner singled and doubled and drove in two runs. Natalie Denoso had a hit, and Collyn Schuricht contributed a hit and two RBIs in addition to a strong pitching game.
Schuricht pitched all seven innings and struck out seven batters.
Llano’s starting pitcher remained on the mound until the seventh inning, with one out.
“We had to work hard at the plate, because we were seeing much slower pitching than we are used to,” Lampasas coach Drew Cleavinger said. “We were able to make adjustments and started hitting the ball really well.
“We had a team goal to score at least one run an inning,” Cleavinger added.
Lampasas scored in five of the seven innings, highlighted by the five-run sixth inning.
“Defensively we got a little comfortable when we had such a big lead,” Cleavinger said. “They were able to jump back on us and put some runs on the board while we were sleeping. But we refocused and made it out on top.”
The Lady Badgers have a bye tonight and “will be getting some long overdue rest,” Cleavinger said.
On Tuesday, they host Leander Glenn at 6 p.m. after the JV game at 4 p.m.
