DISTRICT COURT

Lampasas County 27th District Court convened last week with Judge John Gauntt presiding.

Defendant Obed Martinez of Stephenville pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age, and he was sentenced to eight months in county jail. Martinez also must pay $384 in court costs.

Felix Flores Erebia of Lometa received a sentence of eight years’ deferred probation for possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams and less than 200 grams. He was ordered to attend a Substance Abuse Felony Punishment Facility program, as well as pay attorney fees and court costs of $284.

At his plea hearing, Lometa resident Osvaldo Daniel Alvarado pleaded guilty to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He earned five years’ deferred probation with a $1,000 fine. In addition, Alvarado is to pay court costs of $224 plus attorney fees.

Lelah Anna Brockett of Copperas Cove pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor of burglary of a habitation, and she was sentenced to two days in jail with credit for time served. The court also ordered her to pay $224 in court costs.

Tanya Cheryl Rogers- Sparks of Copperas Cove pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor of burglary of a habitation, and she received 12 months’ deferred probation with a $500 fine. The defendant also is expected to pay associated court costs of $474.

Jesse Raymond Kissel of Copperas Cove failed to show for his March 10 court date, and a warrant was to be issued. Kissel is charged with prohibited weapon-tire deflation device.

And a felony case against Bradford Koaehulukea Amina was dismissed. The Killeen man had been charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram. He is to enter a plea in county court on a misdemeanor charge.

On Monday, several jury trials are scheduled after the following were announced ready:

Rolando Erebia of Lometa, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and with sex offender’s duty to register life/annually.

Tammy Jewell Cohen of Copperas Cove, charged with driving while intoxicated, third or more.

And Holly Lynn Larosa of Kempner has a plea hearing set Monday after her initial bond was found insufficient. She is charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Reset to March 23 is a special hearing on adjudication for Kyla Marie Devito of Marshall. The defendant is charged with credit card or debit card abuse.

A waiver of arraignment was filed for Alexander Enrique Hernandez of Austin, charged with possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams and less than 400 grams. His pretrial hearing is set for March 31.

An adjudication announcement for Anthony Bray Cruz of Florence, charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver. An attorney was appointed for the defendant.

An adjudication announcement for Emiterio Ricky Delgado of Clyde, charged with burglary of a habitation.

Open plea for Sunny Robert Zavala of San Antonio, charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle.

Revocation announcement for Jacob Alec McCurtain of Apache, Oklahoma, charged with abandon/endanger a child-criminal negligence and with bail jumping and failure to appear-felony. An attorney was appointed for him.

The April 7 court docket shows the following cases:

Pretrial hearing for Yvonne Sanchez of Lampasas, charged with aggravated assault causes serious bodily injury. An attorney was appointed for the defendant.

Pretrial hearing for Hunter McCann Thompson of Waco, charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution of a known felon. The court appointed an attorney for Thompson.

Pretrial hearing for William Joshua Warren, charged with burglary of a habitation. An attorney was appointed for the defendant.

Arraignment of Elijah Blaine Brown of Copperas Cove, charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. An attorney was appointed for him.

Arraignment of Jadelynn Wonmalee Denton of Kempner, charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. The court appointed an attorney for her.

Arraignment of Cassady Cheyenne Rae Jones of Copperas Cove, charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. An attorney was appointed for the defendant.

Arraignment of Alyxander Wayne Wilson of Copperas Cove, charged with engaging in organized criminal activity. An attorney was appointed for Wilson.

Pretrial hearing for Brianna Marie Mendez of Cedar Creek, charged with possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams and less than 400 grams.

Pretrial hearing for Richard Dale Allen of Troy, charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Third pretrial for Mathew James Gilger of Cedar Park, charged with driving while intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age.

Motion to suppress hearing for Felix Christopher Salazar of Lampasas, charged with possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams and less than 200 grams.

Adjudication announcement for Theodor Patrick Aleman of Lampasas, charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram. An attorney was appointed for the defendant.

Adjudication announcement for Justin Colter Leon Tyra of Killeen, charged with theft of a firearm.

Hearing for Artemio Martinez of Fort Worth, charged with fraudulent use/ possession of identifying information.

Jury trial is scheduled April 17 for Mark Kevin Pierson. He faces a charge of possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

A plea hearing is set April 17 for David Frank Meyer of Kempner, charged with evading arrest/detention with a vehicle.

On April 28, an adjudication announcement is slated for Dion Dimitri Dezurn of Kempner, charged with injury to a child/elderly/disabled with intent to cause bodily injury.

Elena Nicole Williams of Austin has a plea hearing set April 28 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams and less than 200 grams.

Kayla Taylor Hale of Lometa faces a revocation hearing April 28. She is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Plea hearing with presentence investigation for Andrew Joseph Perez of Killeen, charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Plea hearing with presentence investigation for Tracy Kay Birchmore of Kempner, charged with possession of a controlled substance less than 1 gram.

Revocation hearing for Clarence Michael Biddy of Lampasas, charged with forgery of a government instrument/money/securities and with evading arrest/ detention with a vehicle.

Biddy also faces jury trial on May 22 for a charge of possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams and less than 200 grams.

Frank Stephen Cassatt of Copperas Cove had his pretrial hearing reset for May 19. He is charged with assault of a family/household member-impede breath/ circulation.

Jimmy Wayne Rishner of Austin has a plea hearing with presentence investigation set for May 19 on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

A revocation hearing with an updated presentence investigation is scheduled May 19 for Austin Lively. The San Saba man is charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance over 4 grams and less than 200 grams.

Jury trial is planned May 22 for Russell Joseph Karshis of Copperas Cove, charged with indecency with a child-sexual contact.

John Wesley Marti faces jury trial May 22 on his charge of deadly conduct-discharging a firearm.

And Bonnie Lou McGee of Copperas Cove has a third pretrial hearing scheduled for May 31. She is charged with sexual assault.
