FFA wins big at HOT show
Lampasas FFA members concluded a busy schedule at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas and the Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo in Waco.
FFA officers Blazye Bierschwale and Crosby Liverman competed in the market steer show in Dallas where Crosby placed sixth with her market steer, and Blayze finished fourth.
FFA member Stephen Byrd competed in the market broiler show, and his birds made the first sift and call-back evaluation.
In week one of the Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo, junior FFA member Braedon Raub took the reserve championship with his Chianina market steer, and he showed the reserve champion Anjou market steer.
Bierschwale showed the champion shorthorn breeding heifer, and he took the senior showmanship award for beef exhibitors.
In addition, while showing cattle in Waco, Bierschwale also took the showmanship title, earning a $1,000 scholarship.
During week two of the Waco show, FFA members Bryce Ramon and Nolan Ramon competed in the swine show with their market barrows and breeding gilts.
