Mrs. Boren
Ila Mae Boren, 83, died April 10, 2012, at her home in San Saba.
Funeral services were April 13 at Heritage Funeral Home Chapel in San Saba with Ministers David Short of Alabama, and Doug Suggs of Cherokee.
Burial was at High Valley Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Chuck Lincavage, John Lincavage, Dale Scott, Terry Casper, Louis Cisneroz and Edward Ragsdale.
Mrs. Boren was born Nov. 5, 1928, in Pearl, the daughter of John Thomas and Ardelia Mitchell Gates. She lived in and around San Saba for over 40 years.
In August l929, Mrs. Boren was baptized into the Church of Christ. She married Leon Stokes Boren on May 17, 1945.
Mrs. Boren was a graduate of Port Arthur Business College. She was a Christian, a business woman, a notary public and a rancher.
Survivors include a sister, Emma Gene Thompson of Belton; five nieces; four nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Volley “Jack” and Aubry Houston “Shorty” Gates; a sister, Medene “Dene” Gates Dossey (Dene); and two nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Home for Children or the charity of one’s choice.
