Mr. O’Neal

Doyle G. O’Neal, 77, of Gladewater died April 12, 2012, at his residence.

Services are April 17 at 10 a.m. at Lakeview Funeral Home in Longview with the Rev. Darwood Galaway officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

Mr. O’Neal was born March 5, 1935,inMoline,toOZandErmine O’Neal.

He graduated from Lometa High School and attended business school in Austin.

Mr. O’Neal married Mary Estelle Stewart on Sept. 1, 1973, in Arlington.

He was a realtor for Coldwell Banker in Gilmer where he was president of the Methodist Men and on the board of trustees for First United Methodist Church.

In addition to his church work, he twice served as president of the Kiwanis Club and president of the Gilmer chapter of United Way.

He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kilgore.

Mr. O’Neal enjoyed working in his yard, planting and raising flowers and fishing. He was a charter member of the second Bass Club formed in Texas.

Survivors include his wife of Gladewater; daughters and sonsin law, Jana Sue and David Brooks of Henderson, Julie Renee and Glen Campbell of Abilene, and Jennifer Kay and Greg Corley of McKinney; sons, Kevin Doyle O’Neal of Gladewwater, and Ray Settles and wife, Christine, of Diana; grandchildren, Taylor Sprayberry, Jonathan Rucker, Christopher O’Neal, Michael Glen Campbell, Robert Chad Campbell, Meagan Settles, Brittany Yates, Alyssa Fairbrother and Madelyn Settles; one great-grandchild, Hayden Blayne O’Neal; and a sister, Ozine Linholm of Austin.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Dale O’Neal.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
