Filing for council, school board seats set to begin
Filing will get under way Monday for seats on the Lampasas and Lometa independent school districts’ board of trustees, and for places on Lampasas, Lometa and Kempner city councils. Filing will continue through March 5.
Early voting for Lampasas elections will be handled at the office of the elections administrator, 407 S. Pecan St., from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays. On May 1 and May 4, early voting will take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Lampasas municipal elections are May 12 at New Covenant Church, 1604 Central Texas Expressway.
Following is a list of seats open for filing.
Lampasas City Council: Up for election are the seats held by Christian Toups, Place 3; T.J. Monroe, Place 4; and Les Gerhardt, Place 5.
Those who wish to file will do so at City Hall Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Lometa City Council: The mayor’s post, currently held by Cynthia Kirby, and the at-large seats of Carlos Garcia and Betty Poe will be on the May ballot.
Filing is set at the Lometa Municipal Building weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Early voting also will take place at the municipal facility weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and May 1 and May 4 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Elections will be May 12 at the Lometa Municipal Building from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Kempner City Council: The seats of Mayor Gene Isenhour and council members Melva Vandeveer, Place 5, and Paul Cook, Place 1, are up for election.
Filing for a council seat will be available weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Kempner City Hall.
Early voting, also at Kempner City Hall, will be offered 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Extended hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 1 and May 3.
Elections will be at the city facility from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Lampasas ISD Board of Trustees: Seats up for election are those held by Ron Farr, Place 1; Mark Bishop. Place 2; and Dan Claussen, Place 3.
Filing is slated at the Human Resources Department behind the District Administration Building weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Early voting will be at the elections administrator office, with the same days and hours as the city of Lampasas elections.
Balloting is May 12 at New Covenant Church.
Lometa ISD Board of Trustees: Two at-large positions are up for election. They are held by Tommy Maddox and Xavier Alaniz.
The school district contracts with the city of Lometa for election services.
Filing can be done at the District Administration Building in Lometa from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Early voting and elections are scheduled at the same times as those of the city.
